Beeswax Firestarters

A beeswax fire starter is a simple, eco-friendly way to help start fires for campfires, fireplaces, or wood stoves. Beeswax burns longer and cleaner than petroleum-based alternatives, making it a great option for fire-starting.

How to Make Beeswax Fire Starters

Here are a few methods to create them:

1. Pinecone Beeswax Fire Starters

Materials:

  • Pinecones

  • Beeswax (pellets or blocks)

  • Wick or twine (optional)

  • Muffin tin or parchment paper

  • Double boiler or microwave-safe bowl

Instructions:

  1. Melt the beeswax in a double boiler or microwave (using short bursts, stirring in between).

  2. If using a wick or twine, wrap it around the pinecone to make lighting easier.

  3. Dip the pinecone into the melted beeswax, coating it well.

  4. Place on parchment paper to dry. For a thicker coat, dip multiple times, letting it dry between dips.

  5. Once hardened, they're ready to use!

2. Cotton Round Beeswax Fire Starters

Materials:

  • Cotton rounds or dryer lint

  • Beeswax

  • Tongs

  • Parchment paper

Instructions:

  1. Melt the beeswax.

  2. Dip cotton rounds or balls of dryer lint into the wax, coating them fully.

  3. Place them on parchment paper to cool.

  4. Store in a dry place until needed.

3. Egg Carton Beeswax Fire Starters

Materials:

  • Cardboard egg carton

  • Sawdust, dryer lint, or shredded paper

  • Beeswax

  • Wick or twine (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Fill each egg cup with sawdust, lint, or shredded paper.

  2. Melt the beeswax and pour it over the filling.

  3. Let it harden and then cut apart each section.

How to Use:

  • Place the fire starter under your kindling.

  • Light it with a match or lighter.

  • Enjoy an easy, slow-burning flame to get your fire started!
